Description:
Scottish-built [i]Kralj Aleksandar I[/i] was one of several passenger ships which Yugoslavian companies built or bought in the early thirties in view of the growing popularity of Adriatic and Mediterranean cruises.
Built 1932 at Lithgows Ltd., Port Glasgow, Scotland (yard no 852). 2463 grt. 82.4 x 12.8 m. Twin screw, 18 kn steam ship. 1932 KRALJ ALEKSANDAR I (Dubrovačka Parobrodska Plovidba a.d., Dubrovnik, Kingdom Yugoslavia). 1938 owner's name changed Dubrovačka Plovidba d.d. 1941 seized by Italian occupator, renamed RE ALESSANDRO. 1943 mined near Patras, Greece. Note that none of Dubrovačka Plovidba's passenger ships for international service survived the war.
