This vessel goes for the pelagic species such as herring and mackerel. They search around in the area, where they are allowed to fish, which is mainly in the North Sea and parts of the North Atlantic. When they find the fish by help of advanced electronical equipment they are able to catch up several hundred tons within short time. The fish are being pumped directly from the trawl into tanks in the vessel.
The tanks contains seawater and fish. The tank system is called RSW, which means Refrigiated Sea Water. The ship has a large cooling equipment to cool down the water in those tanks. It makes it possible to cool the fish down to about 0 deg within about 4 hours.
This vessel and other of those danish vessels have an ISO 9000 certificate with a description of this procedure.
