Running around the cargo on the deck in bad weathers in no life preservers is not an easy task but today's seafarers would no go on deck unless having PFD's on. Great photo.

This is what most hands fear at sea, something loose on the deck that has to be secured, a dangerous and perilous undertaking, i know of 1 bosun who with another sailor on the Canadian vessel "Arctic" were swept overboard trying to secure some apparatus that became loose on the upper deck ,this happened with winds of 160 km in the lower Arctic, both sailors were lost.
