Description:
HAMBURG - FORMER DFDS-SEAWAYS FERRY TERMINAL Until March 2002 the Admiral of Scandinavia (2003 sold to Greek interest) connected Hamburg and Harwich. Then the route changed to Cuxhaven - Harwich and was given up completely in November 2003.
There are plans to rebuilt the former ferry terminal into a second cruise terminal for Hamburg.

UPDATE: The new Altona cruise terminal has been built next to the former DFDS-terminal (from this point of view today it is situated right behind the old terminal). It has been opened in April 2011...

Thanks, Cornelia!

I was just browsing through my photos and then I remembered I had used this as a wallpaper for some time. And then I thought: Why not post it here?
It's a historic part of Hamburg harbour.

I hope I got the little story right that I posted along with the photo!

That's an excellent photo of the ex. DFDS terminal. I have been inside there, more than just a few times, because DFDS used to sell not only cheap ferry-trips, BUT - cheap train tickets together with this so, a good thing to do on a long weekend was - book DFDS, train-ticket included, go on "Prince of Scandinavia" - now Moby Drea to Harwich, including great trip on River Elbe, and retour. Every time I see some other ship but the white DFDS ferry laid up at the terminal I think, that's the wrong ship !! :-D
