And that's why I like your photos.

The main subject is the ship here.
I wanted to get a sharp bow angle which enhances her fine clean lines. This ship is a racer, a real thoroughbred capable of 28+ knots. It is a symbol of speed and power.

Its a great photo, just not enough background, people tell me they want background and foreground as well.

I contacted the river pilot over the VHF to inform him of my intentions. That is I was going to photograph TROMP from various angles while using my boat including close angle views such as this one. The pilot and captain of the frigate agreed and here are the results for all to see.

VE day. Right. REason that Ottawa gets a full batch of tulips each spring in gratitude to the Canadian Veterans that liberated Holland in WW2.

For Marc, quess that the pilots must know him and his boat by now to know who he is. This is Canada. We're not that paranoid yet :-P

To those who accuse others of rating their friend's photos, this is why... It's not just a photo in the middle of nowhere. It has content. It has something else in the surrounding decor. It shows a ship in a an environment that is not just saying: here's the boat. Period.

I voted for photos that showed more than just a ship. No more voting for me though. I'll just enjoy the shots and let others try to be king of the hill :-D

They don't arrest you, they shoot first, Tromp is most likely here for VE day celebrations.
Jeff Thoreson on May 06, 2005 00:13 (12 years ago)
Couldn't you get arrested for getting this close to a warship?

Great photo, Marc!
