Description:
Royal Interocean Line's passenger/cargoship Tjinegara arrives at Port Adelaide February 1968. On the Australia - Japan passenger/cargo route at the time, with stops at about a dozen intermediate ports.
An occasional visitor to Adelaide, she had Dutch officers and Chinese crew. Every crewman's cabin was stuffed with boxes of Rinso/Fab clothes washing powder - very clean fellas, or was there a shortage back home?
Built by P. Smit at Rotterdam as the Straat Makassar in 1951, she went to the breakers at Gadani Beach in 1978.
Former name(s):
- Tjinegara (Until 1971)
- Straat Makassar (Until 1956)
