Interesting, that she has sailed under two flags of landlocked countries, like Switzerland as STOCKHORN and Austria as LAVANTTAL.
unfortunatly she had a sad end in the caribbean.

Ciao, gp and friends..

As "Lavanttal"("...tal" means .."Valley") the vessel belonged to the management of the Österreichischer Lloyd A.G. (Austrian Lloyd), founded 1833 and to one of the oldest shipping-companies in the world.(See also the homeport Wien(Vienna))
After WW I, when Austria lost all the adriatic coast, the Company and the ships were taken over by the Italians as "Lloyd Triestino". But they did not want and were not allowed to take the name "Österreichischer Lloyd".
The Lloyd Triestino went into financial bad times, like all the big Italian Shipping Companies and belongs now to the Taiwan Evergreen-Holding.
The old "Austrian Lloyd" is still working, see :

Ciao + Servus to everybody from Vienna
