I think, that to have interesting and rare photos as much as possible collectors should receive possibility.
I have thousand rare photos of the ships and courts of my country. I collected them about 40 years. I witnessed, as collections and photos of many died collectors have completely disappeared. I have no possibility to learn a surname of authors of thousand photos.
It both professional photographers, and many my friends, and my died grandfather
(The captain of 1 rank), and many unknown seamen secretly photographing the ships. During an epoch of Soviet Union photographing and collecting of such information was very strictly pursued. Many photos have remained only thanks to collectors. I respect copyrights. At me it is a lot of photos of authors which do not want their publication for various reasons. I also do not publish them.
The authorship of many old photos is simply lost. But I think, that it not an occasion to hide them from people. Memory needs to be stored. Such photos help to make it.
At my country nice and simultaneously terrible history. Many human victims, but
I am proud of my country and fleet of my country. It is pleasant to me to know, as in other countries there are people to whom the history of my country is interesting. I wish to help them with it and I gain it not for money.
If you consider, that I am wrong, I am ready to stop the publication of photos of the old ships which I could not photograph itself. I think what to define authorship of photos of the ships even the first and second world wars of any country of the world very difficultly. But they remain interesting to many people. To make their accessible, instead of hidden for the majority of people is a small crime.
Yours faithfully, Vitaly
