Now, I do have a question regarding these bow-shots. I thought that I have read somewhere but am not sure whether it is for this site here, that the bridge must be visible for those kinds of shots. On that one, I see just containers. Then, I do wonder - as I remember, there has been a discussion about that - whether a shot like that here of the
Chastine Maersk is appropiate for this site ? I thought I heard something, that other members had deleted photos like that. I'd be thankful for information by you moderator-folks !

Hi Cornelia,

I dont find them a problem and as this one has been posted with a number of other views of the vessel its ok by me, there has been alot of discussions on this topic and not everyone likes them, but some people dont li,e broadside views either!

Your shot of the Chastine Maersk is also fine by me i think a good bow view clearly shows the bow flare that some vessels especially containerships have so these shots are interesting for me.

Thanks alot for your info, yes for me it's also that reason why I like these views - you are able to see a cross-section of the ship's hull that way and as you mentioned, bow-flare. I think as well that the discussions for this should have ended now, because we do have that great thing called thumbnails and we simply won't have the folks who don't like bow-shots clicking on those anymore.

Also I have nothing against these views. If I would have, then I won´t have posted these views at all. About the bow shots, I think the close-ups of just the vessel´s bow or name on the bow are the ones which won´t be so welcomed. Like this example:

Thanks, these shots with only name on - I used to make these when I was not yet having a digital camera to see the name of the ship just in case it wasn't big enough. Btw I find it a great thing, that moderators are now known by name, just in examples like that you know straight on whom you have got to talk to with such things :-D Keep up the good work !

Thanks Andrew. Had to crop it a bit though.

Very good, even some folks think when doing a bow-shot there is need to see the bridge - but as we know that's all too difficult with these containerships - I like those close-up shots :-D

Thanks! I like these straight head on views too. In the past my old camera was too slow for taking proper views, I had to take these with my filmcamera. now it´s very easy. :-)
