Description:

The only theatre ship in Great Britain is the 277gt. FITZCARRALDO reg GB. She is the
ex Norwegian passenger ferry MV Bjarkoy and was launched in 1971. Retired in the early 90's she was brought to Lancaster to be fitted out as a theatre ship. The rear boat deck is converted to a 120 seat theatre when a performance is due and the funnel is now a cafe bar. She is named after the Werner Herzog film in which Klaus Kinski attempts to haul a ship over a mountain. Pictured here at her permanent berth in Canning Dock,Liverpool on June 9th,2008.

Hi Judi and Lee

I've added the IMO for you :-)

Last time I passed tis vessel I was surprised at the terrible condition of her superstructure - hull etc. I wonder if she is now unseaworthy?

Regards

Steve Ellwood

Thanks Steve for the imo and yes she definitely needs drydocking and the engineer
doesn't know how much longer he can keep the engines going.
