Buenos Aires berthed at Napier Nov/Dec 1951. Built in 1928 as Argentino, she became Sudatlantico in 1931, Buenos Aires in 1939, Marita Thorden in 1952 and Merivakka in 1961 and was converted to a storage hulk. She also visited Napier as Marita Thorden in 1959 and again in 1960, and was one of the first ships to load logs at Napier.

IMO 5606778
Built in 1928 with name SUD ATLANTICO to (A/S LINEA SUD AMERICANA-Ivar An. Christensen mgr), Oslo.
1931 Sold to A/S IVARANS REDERI, Oslo. Renamed ARGENTINO.
1939 Renamed BUENOS AIRES.
1952 Sold to Gustaf B. Thordén, Helsinki. Renamed MARITA THORDÉN.
1960 Renamed MERIVAKKA.
