||Vegetable/Edible Oil Tankers|
|Ramsgate 12/7/80. Two ships with the wooden wheelhouse which characterize coasters of a certain age which, sadly, are now all but extinct.
The PL Trader was an edible oil tanker operated by the London-based Pure Lard Group and regularly transported their products into the Thames at this time. If I remember correctly, she was of Norwegian origin. She was berthed at Ramsgate for general maintenance or repairs.
The Contact was a typical Dutch built coaster perhaps better known a Lapthorn's original Hootact. She too was at Ramsgate for maintenance though I have a feeling she may have just had her new name applied.
