Description:

Here's one for the fans of the nifty 60s navy.
British Royal Navy submarine ASTUTE as shown while departing Halifax in January 1962
Built in 1945 as a A-class unit, she was restyled in the 1950s and used as a training sub for the RCN's anti-submarine surface vessels (at the time when this photo was taken).

Hi Marc: Astute is infact in the Narrows heading into the Bedford Basin past Shannon Park,not outbound. But,what a great photo,Thanks for posting.Those were great years. Cheers,Ken
