This photo was taken by a family member, possibly in the 1930s. The vessel in the foreground is the Dunvegan Castle. The larger two-funnelled ship behind is the Europa. Thanks to those who helped with identification.

Just ran across this picture. The big ship is the EUROPA. The Arnold Kludas book "Die Schnelldampfer BREMEN und EUROPA" has various clear pictures showing the differences between the two in the stern quarter, among other places.

Dave, yes you are correct. Looking at the name again it definately isn't Cardigan Castle. A bit of googling tells me that Union Castle never had a ship of that name anyway. Thanks for the correction.

Hi Phil,the Union Castle liner looks like Dunvegan Castle,built in 1936,have posted a postcard of it..Cheers Dave

The big ship is either BREMEN or EUROPA. I'm not wel-schooled enough to tell you which of the two this is....
