Interesting comments. I remember seeing this ship leave the Tyne on her delivery voyage. I thought the short life of these ships (Esso Hibernia and Northumbria scrapped too) was more due to the energy crisis of the 70s/ 80s rather than the build quality of the ship.

Agree with David here. In early 80's the Norwegian owner Simon Møkster (known for his offshore stand-by and supply-vessels)had bought the EVERETT F.WELLS. Happily for him he had in his contract that sale could be cancelled if ship was not "up to expectations" when she drydocked in Lisbon. There it was found that she had several structual faults, and also grounding-damages that owners had tried to hide. There were also found damages to machinery. After some rounds in court, the sale was cancelled. Møgster said in his book, that the whole history around the EVERETT F.WELLS felt like a nightmare.

Had command of this one - Later became the AGIOS NICHOLAOS THALASSAPOROS - dreadful ship - not a very good advert for Swan Hunters - scrapped when only 10 years old
