This is the final, uncompleted HM5 sidewall hovercraft made by the hovermarine company in Woolston. It was damaged by fire in what was rumoured to be an insurance job and then remained behind the former hovermarine factory (spitfire quay) on the Itchen river for many years before being moved round to northam. It spent some time on land near the river and then was moved back into the water and was moored up near to the northam bridge for many years.

It has recently been moved a few hundred meters further up the river and can be clearly seen from the cobden bridge. I believe the owners intention was to convert it into a houseboat but I don't know if this is still going to happen but due to it's recent move up river it's obvious someone is still actively involved with it.
