Boat was built with scraps and pieces of left over steel plate and material from building other towboats, hence the name SCRAPIRON.
Built 1979 by Greenville Shipbuilding Corporation. 50 x 20. 2xGM 8V-71 diesels, 600 hp. Owned by builder until sold 1999 to Mississippi Marine Corporation, Greenville. Still in service, although it looks pretty worn out in this photo.
