I believe the correct U.S. Navy designation for the CONFIDENT was BYT 2. According to USN records, BYT 3 was retained for service with the USN instead of being transferred.

Thanks for the interesting info, davidships. Now this little tug is getting more "personality" :)

With kind regards,
Jukka

Built 1941 by Gulfport Shipbuilding, Port Arthur TX (Yd 191) as BYT 3 for lend-lease to the UK as HMS CONFIDENT. Returned to the US Navy in 1947, she was transfered to Greece in 1949 and initially reported to be named ENGAELADOS (but this not confirmed), then ACHILEUS in 1950s.

Sister is ANTAIOS (A 407) ex-HMS BUSY ex-BYT 1.

The unknown tug with the call sign "SZZN" is the Greek Navy Tug ACHILLEUS A-409. Some publications that I have list the former name of CONFIDENT and made note that the name may be unreliable.

Thank you gerrard! Now that you mention it, the id A-409 can be distinguished on her bow.

With kind regards,
Jukka
