My father Peter Jamieson was one of the Masters of this ship in the late 60s early 70s, she mainly sailed from Campbeltown Argyll to Redbay Ireland, she also went tramping around the scottish coast and relieved the larger Sound of Jura"Also Mastered by my late Father" on the Kennacraig to Port Askaig on Islay run. Glad to see she is still named Sound of Islay, unlike the Sound of Jura, she was renamed on her sale to Mexico and unfortunately became the victim of a hurricane and was washed up on the beach.

The Sound of Islay was built for Western Ferries on the river Clyde at Port glasgow in 1968. her main run was from Kennacraig to Islay which she served intermittently from 1968 untill 1981, when she was sold over to Canada.
