Description:
The SS Catala was built in 1925 for the Union Steamship Fleet, sailing along the Canadian west coast until 1958. She was then converted into a floating hotel, first in Seattle, Washington, then in Ocean Shores, Washington, until she was wrecked in a storm in 1965. The wreck was later cut up, and its remains lay buried in the sand until the late 1990s, when she reappeared.
Unfortunately, the Catala has since been removed from the beach after oil was discovered still contained in her hull.
