30/11/1997 - The officer of the watch at Cherbourg MRCC is puzzled by curious course of the MSC Rosa M on his radar screen, proceeding in the English Channel. Contacted, the master said that he had some problems with the ballasts and that the ship had 20 ° list. Half an hour later, the list is 30° and the crew is airlifted by helicopter. The french tug ABEILLE LANGUEDOC assists the ship.
31/11/1997 - To prevent sinking, she is deliberately stranded on sand in Becquet bay, east of Cherbourg.
After some pumping operations, she will be refloated.
I saw her two months later proceeded at full speed in easterly breeze towards Gibraltar Strait. This pic is now on "Containers"
