Location:Rosyth, United Kingdom
Photo Category: Auxiliaries
Launched as OLYNTHUS by Hawthorn Leslie at Hebburn on Tyne on 10 July 1964 she was handed over in June 1965 to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
As her name was frequently confused with the submarine OLYMPUS,OLYNTHUS was renamed OLWEN in 1967.
I took this in 1984 as she passed under the Forth Bridges for Rosyth following a Tyneside refit.
She and her sisters were sold for scrap with the advent of the new Fleet Tankers WAVE KNIGHT and WAVE RULER,OLWEN going to Alang in India I believe.
This was taken as she made her way under the Forth Bridges for Rosyth in 1984.
