Tug PRESQUE ISLE docks behind its barge, also named PRESQUE ISLE, at the Mounfort Terminal in Erie, 1:32 p.m. 31 July 2005.

The tug was returning from its five-year survey at Port Weller Dry Docks, and was to reconnect to its barge over the coming hours. By 7:30 the connection process was complete and the PRESQUE ISLE, with an escort from USCG 234476, backed away from the Mounfort Terminal and out of Erie harbor, turned in the lake and headed upbound for Two Harbors, Minnesota to load taconite pellets.
