Heybridge Basin, Essex. 14/6/09. Former Royal Navy harbour service launch, probably most recently used as a live-aboard and now laid up for sale.

Built in 1939 by Philip & Sons Limited, Dartmouth, 3963 is a harbour service launch for the of timber construction with a Foden FD6 inboard diesel engine installed in 1955. She was allocated for service at Devonport Naval Dockyard in 1940 and subsequently decommissioned and sold to the present owner in 1964. She is presently laid up in Essex.

Hi ..We purchased this boat in July this year and the restoration is well under way. Research has found her original naval name was HSL 3963 Crebe. Although she was purchased by her previous owner in 1964 she is in virtually original condition and we aim to sympathetically restore her. That's definately her Ben. She certainly has a Navy look about her and I suspected that there is an interesting history, hence uploading the photo. Thanks for the link :-)

Pretty sure this is her Phil. Was reading the NHSC site a few weeks ago and noticed her...your photo reminded me !!
