Description:

And a shot of her taken in Australian waters from a collection I received from Australia many years ago.
She lasted until 1984 but in January 1984 when under tow to breakers she grounded at Bilbao and broke in two.A sad end for a ship with such a distinguished name.I see there is a new JERVIS BAY now so I hope she will be more successful.

There was a later "Jervis Bay" than the one photographed. She was in the same class as the Cardigan Bay/IMO#7207140 phoned in www.shipspotting.com. That "Jervis Bay" used to call at Halifax, Nova Scotia during the 1990's. I remember that outside the Master's cabin, there was a glass frame containing the medals and Discharge Book of the Chief Engineer who was on board when the earlier "Jervis Bay" was sunk whilst heroically defending Convoy HX84.
