Description:

This is the Horizon Consumer and Horizon Fairbanks at the Bellingham Shipping Terminal in Bellingham, WA on August 28, 2009. Between my modest camera, tight security and unaccommodating surroundings, I was unable to get a better shot. Maybe next time, I'll rent a canoe! The Horizon Consumer (on the left), was delivered as the Australia Bear to the Pacific Far East Line at a cost of $25.2 million on March 30, 1973, she is one of two C7-S-88a design containerships, both having been built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding, Sparrows Point MD. She has a container capacity of 832 FEU, and carries 6346 tons of bunkers, giving her quite a range, even at her designed 23 knots.

The Horizon Fairbanks is a C6-S-85a design and was built as the Austral Ensign for the Farrell Lines by Ingalls Pascagoula and completed on Feb 27, 1973 for $20.5 million. She has a container capacity of 710 FEU.

In their 36 years, i'm sure they paid for themselves and then some!
