Murmansk stranded near Sørvær on the island of Sørøya in Finnmark, Norway on dec 24th. 1994.
This October work started on removing the wreckage. In February 2010 a dry dock is built around the wreckage, and the vessel will be scuttled there. Pictures from the scene can be found her and an article (in Norwegian) http://www.kystverket.no/?did=9964495 |

It's an old Sverdlov-class cruiser, commissioned in 1955. I believe she stranded here in 1994, enroute to the breakers.

Hi Frode,
I placed it in the wrecks and relics category as this is definitively a wreck an not a ship at the scrapyard. If you have any data about that vessel it would be great. Gerolf, admin scrapyard ships |
