Two classical sloops, sailing the ice on gliders.
Ice sailing has been developed in the Netherlands from around 1600 for transportation of both passengers and merchandise . From 1840 the first ice sailing sports events are known.
Today racing is mainly done with the so called XV-monotype from Estland 1932 and the DN type, developed from a disigning contest by the American newspaper Detroit News in 1937.
