This is an onshore crane known as the HLD or Heavy Lifting Device,
operated by Kiewit Offshore Services in Corpus Christi Bay,Ingleside Texas. It can lift 13000 Tons in one lift and is not installed on a barge as can be seen here http://www.marinelog.com/DOCS/NEWSMMV/2005apr06.html cheers Tom. |

good day all
asked the pilot,,he said it,s on a platform, now platform floating or platform stationary he did not know, and me neither, But figure, that cranes on platforms (i.e. on oil rigs etc) never really floating either. If not under this category, perhaps under "ships under construction" as seemingly the oil rig under it is under construction I leave that up to the ADM,s of the website if there are doubts as to where. But I sure feel that it should be retained. Such a monster is real a rarity even in the oil industry where big things are the norm. brgds capt ted |
