I think you must have been looking at the "ALMAR 1" which was a "Capesize" . Went to Bangladeshi breakers (Chittagong) in November, 2005. You probably shaved with her this morning :-D

Michael - You have good reason to doubt your informant as this vessel is not a "Capesize" which is basically any bulker too big for the Panama Canal. Normally 100,000 dwat and above are what are known as "Capers"/"Capesize" as they have to go round either the Cape of good Hope or Cape Horn. This vessel you have superbly photographed is Greek built 1986 37,197 mdwat , N.R.T: 12,373 and G.R.T: 22,574 Owners: Z & G. Halcoussis, Piraeus (Managers: Victoria Steamship) She is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NKK). Good old school Greek owners who run well founded ships. When I saw "Capesize" and then looked again at the photograph and saw cranes I thought "oh no, no way" . There are no "Capers" with cargo gear......at the moment :-D
