General cargo ships built 1940-1949 (Over 3000gt) | | Description: | Greek-flag general cargo ship HERACLITOS as shown while arriving at Montréal in June 1965.
Laid down in 1945 as EMPIRE RONALDSAY for the British Ministry of War Transport, she was completed in 1947 as United Africa Co's LANGOSIAN. In 1949, she went to Palm Line to become their LAGOS PALM. Palm Line renamed her OGUTA PALM in 1960 to free her previous name for new contruction.
In 1964, she was sold to Skaramanga Shipping of Piraeus to become their HERACLITOS as depicted here.
She lasted five years as such and was acquired in 1969 by G. Eleftheriou who renamed her HERODEMOS.
The old girl was finally broken up at Split in 1973.
