General cargo ships built 1940 and before (Over 3000gt) | | Description: | Wilhelm Wilhelmsen's Thermopylae, and Williamson & Coy's Inchcastle [IMO5160025] at No.1 Dock, Port Adelaide; August 1965.
Plenty has been written about the Norwegian beauty, but Inchcastle's history is a little more colourful.She was completed by Short Bros in January 1938 as the Anglo-Indian for The Nitrate Producers Coy. Survived World War II, r/n Tacoma City in 1948, then became Inchcastle in 1954. By the 1960's Inchcastle was a rat infested shocker.
R/n Lucky in 1966 and subsequently b/u at Kaohsiung in late 1969.

very intersting port scene, expecially with that really old vessel in the background. From the stern it must as well a pre second WW vessel.

If that building in the background is the 'Birkenhead Tavern', people might be interested to know that it is still standing today!!
