Taken from sister Rangitata near Balboa.
Both were on their last voyages, Rangitiki outward to NZ and Rangitata homeward to UK
Built 1929 for NZS the first of three motorships the others being Rangitata and Rangitane.
NZS was very lucky two out of the three were not lost to enemy action in November 1940, as the Rangitane was captured and sunk by the raiders Komet and Orion near the Chatham Islands off NZ and Rangitiki at about this time was the convoy commodore's ship for HX-84 in which the armed merchant cruiser HMS Jervis Bay and later the Beaverford, though both were sunk, held off the German capital ship Admiral Scheer long enough for the majority of the ships to scatter and reach port.
She had two minor incidents when she touched the locks at Colon in 1946 and briefly went aground on Goodwin Sands in 1958.
1962 broken up arrived Santander 26/7/1962.
