FJORD CHAMPION (Fjordshell -03) 17,966/74 – products tanker, owned by Champion Shipping AS (Genoa Maritime S.A.) Norway (NIS). Fire broke out in the accommodation 5/3/2005 when about 15 miles off Mandal, Norway in position 57.47N, 07.05E. Initially thought to be extinguished , it broke out again and spread to the bridge prompting the evacuation of the crew by helicopter. There were reported explosions on board and she was listing. The fire was extinguished 7/3 and she was taken in tow by the tug HAABULL and arrived Kristiansand the following day. Damage is reported to be severe and she will likely be scrapped. She was on passage from Liverpool for Rostock in ballast.
