Description:
This is the first time (March 2004) that the former Finish roro CAMILLA see Québec under her new name CAMILLA DESGAGNÉS. After being abandonned by her crew off Newfoundland the year before during bad weather due to cargo shifting and water ingress, she was salvaged and sold as is. The Groupe Desgagnés decided to purchase the vessel and did a fine job to repair her. She is now sailing with the blue hull/yellow stripe Desgagnés's colours. A second bad luck almost make her to be back as a floating derelict, this time in the spring 2005 while she was sailing on ballast from New York to St-Jean N.B. An engine room fire left her disabled but the crew after thinking to evacuate her, was able to extinghish the fire. She was towed to Boston and was back in Québec in July 2005. Since this picture, she was painted blue with the yellow distinctive stripe on the bow. One cargo crane was add and she has done few trips im the Arctic. But again, major engine problem occured in 2009 when she suffered a crankcase explosion, fortunatly without any injuries to the crew. But the vessel became disabled only few cables from the shoal near the pilot station. She was lucky enough to drift toward deep waters. After months of thinkings, GROUPE DESGAGNES decided to replace her main engine. (July 2010)
