Usuki Pioneer, Imonr. 8304373 also had her sails removed, I do also wonder why?

This ship was launched as "Aqua City" in 1984 it was installed with two sets of sails on her forecastle. On a pacific crossing to Vancouver, it is claimed she made a saving of $20,000 in fuel. None of the fotos here show any sign of the masts. Wonder why their use was discontinued?
