Description:

Last conventional cargo ship built for R. S. Dalgleish of Newcastle was the Warkworth deivered by Bartrams in 1962. She is seen leaving Smiths Dock, North Shields. Sold in 1971 she later had the names Salamat, Philippa and Skymnos. The Skymnos was lying at Fao on 9 January 1981 when she was damaged by shellfire and declared a CTL.

Can not believe I have come across this vessel blimey I was aboard in the early 60's when she was arrested they posted the arrest warrant to her bridge door. We were off Three Rivers Quebec & stayed there at anchor in the St Lawrence for possibly three to four weeks. My introduction to pizza too. What a seriously funny trip with a amusingly odd crew.
Good God some memories went on to Canadian Pacific Beaver boats. Ah memories of 40+ years ago thank you.
