Vessel appears longer than the 250' maximum length for oceangoing vessels on the Great Lakes that stood before the St. Lawrence Seaway opened in 1959. If this photo was indeed taken at Sault Ste. Marie then it had to have been after the opening of the Seaway.

Fine picturem as not many colour photos of Liberty vessels exist.

TRANSPORTER was owned by Sea Freighter Corp. S.A., Monrovia and managed by Polarus Steamship Co. Inc., New York) between 1956 - 1957 flying Liberian flag.
In 1957 managers became Cargo & Tankers Inc., New York until 1959 when she was sold to Jackson Steamship Co., Monrovia and managed by Suwannee Steamship Co., Jacksonville, Florida. Sold in 1967 to Greek owners and renamed ZANETA II.
Lengthened in 1961 at Tokyo as mentioned above.

Funnel colours can belong to Polarus Steamship Co. if so photo was taken between 1956-1957. Funnel experts can give more information.

Best regards

That's correct, although there's another Liberty which carried the same name. The standard book on liberty ships states vessel lenghtened 1961 as the picture
clearly shows. But the first name is Telfair Stockton, not Stockholm. Delivered Nov.'44 by St. Johns River Shipbuilding Comp. at Jacksonville, Florida.
