This is a real old timer still in use as a private yacht

She was part of an order of 50 workboats for the US government placed in NZ at end of WW2.

Most were cancelled or broken up incomplete.

She was Hull 4 of the order and completed in 1946.
In 1948 she was purchased by NZ Govt for use as a tender to Soames Island in Wellington Harbour and renamed Matiu the Maori name for the Island.
In 1995 the station at Soames Island was closed and she was sold privately for use as a yacht in the North island eventually ending up at Bluff, where she sees irregular use.
