Here in the good old United Kingdom, Cornelia. I'm not just talking ships though, all kinds of outdoor photography. There's plenty on the internet about it (just google a few choice words) and even a Facebook campaign group.

Phil, in which country was it, the police was after hobby-photographers ? Even in Russia (Kaliningrad) nobody did pay attention to that, just walking around in port, after immmigration was onboard, taking photos of old rusty ships there.

I'm with you all the way on that, Capt. Ted. You get it far worse mate.

Then you guys can now imagine how sailors like me a treated in ports when we pull the camera out of the pockets !!!!!

Not funny, actually :-;. There have been numerous instances where innocent hobby photographers in public places have been hounded by police and security personnel in the interest of so-called anti-terrorism.

Pardon my cynicism, but only you Terrorists (properly pronounced "tourists") would want to know in advance if LNG ships were due in port. ;)
Of course, the other LNG import ports (Teesport and Milford Haven) are far more obliging.

Bob, no co-incidence. The Methane Princess / Progress were owned by a predecessor to the BG Group (British Gas) in a joint venture with Shell. The current incarnation (BG Group) owns these current "Methane" ships.

Interesting, same funnel colours as the original gas boats on the Thames, METHANE PRINCESS & METHANE PROGRESS that were operated by Methane Tankers (Shell Group) back in the 60's. Any connection or just coincidence?

Bob

Thanks Phil, it was a bit grotty, as you say it is difficult to keep track of them.

Well captured Ken, despite the weather. These LNG carriers are becoming more and more frequent at Grain. It's a shame that, apart from AIS, there is no advance notice of their arrival.
Cheers
Phil
