Description:

Israeli Navy Sa'ar 5 Class corvette entering its home base of Haifa on February 23rd,2011.There are three vessels of this class in the Israeli navy and all three are based at Haifa. Unfortunately with there being no markings it is difficult to say whether this is Eilat, Lahan or Hanit. They were all built by Northrop Grumman and gross 1227gt and have dual diesel and gas turbine engines. The diesels give a max speed of 20 knots whilst the gas turbines can achieve 37 knots. They have a crew of 64 officers and men and 10 aircrew. They are armed with 8x Ram -84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, 64 Barak surface to air missiles. Phalanx CIWS, 2 Mark 32 SVTTs (6 tubes) and a Eurocopter Panther helicopter.

This is not a Sa'ar 4.5, but a Sa'ar 5 of course :-)
For small corvettes, these ships carry a ridiculous amount of armament. I understand they are more than a little unstable as a consequence.
