Description:
Sietas type 167 self-unloading bulker Kvitnes sailing from Southampton after dropping off a load of railway ballast from Glensanda.
2003 renamed Rocknes. Capsized and sank 19th January 2004 after hitting shallows in Vatlestraumen. 12 crew were saved and sadly 18 lost. She was on a voyage from Eikefet to Emden. The vessel was salved by Smit Salvage b.v. and towed to Bergen. Later converted to a dynamic positioning vessel and named Nordnes, she is still in service.
