The Presque Isle is part of an Integrated Tug - Barge unit. The tug, pictured here, is only 1600 GRT but has a draft approaching 8.5 m. The barge, which has been left in the USA for this trip, is 57,500 GRT and 329 m. When the 2 are connected they are 365 m. The tug required drydocking and, because of its draft, can only be drydocked at Port Weller shipyards at the north end of the Welland Canal. The barge will not fit in the canal and is left behind for the transit. Here the tug is seen upbound above Lock 7 after leaving the drydock earlier in the day.
