1976 sold and renamed Mashaallah and converted to livestock carrier, still managed by Cunard.
1979 engine trouble and broken up Kaohsiung, arrived 25/10/1979.
She had the longest period of service of any of the postwar built Port Line ships - 27 years

The man you speak of who died on the bridge was my father Geoffrey Martin.I was surprised when I saw your comment. I was 5 years old at the time of his accident. I'm sorry you had to witness such a horrible moment.

The driver of the Tanker kicked the windscreen out and escaped but the other guy (a scout master from my locality) was burnt to death inside the car. We watched it all from a short distance away across the river whilst bunkering.
The patrons of a nearby hotel on the south side of the bridge were close by had it in full view and some ran to try and get the guys out...it was a horrible sight and left a terrible feeling in side all of us for the rest of the operation...we finished bunkering the ship and couldnt wait to get away from there.
