Paul, the photo dates from 1999. IMO 6912267, ex-SIBENIK was scrapped in 1994... So IMO 7604817 is correct, she was originally the BALDER ANTWERPEN.

You got them, Stefan! For a photo of SIBENIK see http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1238940. It's nice to know that someone is still finding that Standard Ship Designs book useful 27 years on!

Got it, first six were "Mosa Pijade", "Sibenik", "Marko Oreskovic", "Matija Ivanic", "Promina" and "Matija Gubec", right?

Hi Bob!
Thanks for your additional info. I was just back from work and had a look to your book (which is still one of my favorite look-ups for older ship types).
Do you recall the names of the original six unity-ships?
brgds,
Stefan

Sorry, Stefan, The Unity type was not included in that 1984 Fairplay book.
It is a long time ago to be able to remember exactly why but I think it was ignored because the design was getting on for obsolete by the time I was compiling the book.
If I remember correctly, there was a series of six vessels built for Yugoslavia in 1969, then two very similar (but not identical) vessels - BALDER ANTWERPEN and BALDER GENT - built ten years later for Parley Augustsson.
No doubt Cockerill yards would have liked to have sold as many of these as the British did with the SD14 and IHI with the Freedom. But the Belgians did not market the Unity design as energetically as did the Brits, Japanese and Germans with their respective 'Liberty-replacement' designs.
