Description:

BHAMO, built by Lithgows at Port Glasgow in 1957, was photographed at "W" shed, Avonmouth, by the late R.M.Parsons, probably in May 1966.

Built for British & Burmese S.N. Co. (P.Henderson), she was operating for Elder Dempster Lines on the West African Trade when photographed and by 1969 had transferred to Guinea Gulf Line, by that time also owned by the Ocean Group.

New owners, who took over the ship at Liverpool early in April 1979, cleverly amended her name to BHAMOT for a one way voyage to Taiwan where she arrived at the breaker's yard in Kaohsiung on 10.7.79.

Malcolm....Thank you for posting this shot.
I served on her for quite a few voyages down to West Africa.
Many, many good memories are evoked.
Even in the photo...those logs...probably from Sapele in Nigeria, brought back such memories. (Not PC now of course!)
There was another shot of her...leaving Lagos, that seems to have disappeared from this site.
And yet another "Avonmouth" photo......
