They were nice vessels Chris, I was on the British Cygnet just before my oldest son was born, loved my time there. My favourite all time tanker was the Hemiplecta, h class shell...I paid off at articles but later I wished I never, top job...Gordy

The Bird or British Fulmar class were the last and in my opinion the best looking medium size three island tankers built for BP.

The 14 ship class were built as follows

1959 - Fulmar,Trust,Swift,Gannet.
1960 - Kiwi,Robin,Gull,Mallard,Curlew.
1961 - Cormorant.
1962 - Osprey,Kestrel,Merlin,Cygnet.
All visited NZ.

British Cygnet was the fourth to last three island tanker built for BP, the final three being British Bombardier,British Cavalier in 1962 and British Diplomat in 1963. The first two island tanker in the fleet was the British Grenadier in 1963.
