Description:

Rotterdam Spring 1984. IMO 6718427. Built Giessen de Noord, Krimpen, 1967. Still current on Equasis as AL MAHMOUD 4. Whether she is actually trading is debateable as her class was withdrawn in 2003.

At the time the photo was taken she was a palletised cargo ship, 1 ho/3 ha/3 tweendecks. She has latterly operated as a livestock carrier.

Thanks to Wim for the additional data.

Phil,

I think you're almost correct but I seem to remember her as TYRO. I think I have seen a photograph of her in my father's collection while heavy listing or something.

If I peek in my LR ShipFinder I find 3 TYRO's but I think the one with IMO 6718427 and build in 1967 at vd Giessen de Noord yard (as TYRO) is the one. Latest info I have is she's now the Syrian AL MAHMOUD 4 (as a livestock carrier).

Will phone my father tomorrow to ask some confirmations on this one ...

Cheers,

Wim

Wow! she does look good and somehow even manages to appear more modern than her years in the 2005 photos.

Thanks Adawo

Thanks Wim, that's fantastic. Come to think of it, TYRO does sound right, and there's no trace of an 'L' at the end of the ship's name.

Cheers,
Phil
