No, it would not have been Tilbury. Oriana never came up the Thames.

The first ship I ever set foot on. My Dad was a crew member in the 60s. In 1967 or 1968, he took me onboard when the ship was in dry dock. I think it would have been in Tilbury. For an eight year old, I was amazed at the sheer size of the ship. A lovely vessel compared to the monstrosities of today. It would be interesting if anybody remembers him, his name was Bob West.

I fully do share your view & passionate feelings, Clive.... ORIANA for me,, since her very beginning in 1960 when I was a kid... all the way till today!!

I loved her when I was a school boy when she first entered into service. I once had a copy of Design magazine that featured every aspect of her interior design, I was captivated. When I could afford to take a cruise on my own, in 1973, Oriana was my first choice. Of course, feeling so passionate about her I rather hoped that everyone would share my views - but they don't. I have to accept that Oriana was a 'Marmite' ship.

I always thought this one was odd-looking. She never was my cup of tea

I've never cared much for ORIANA, always thought she was rather odd looking, but this really is a nice shot of her!

The only thing more splended than this would have been in her original biscut coloured hull! mrdot.
