Cool story bro

There is no mystery in the history of this lovely little tug!The only confusing part is builder's plate with incorrect details posted on the wheelhouse after WWII.
She was built in 1894 by Howaldtswerke's subsidiary Howaldt & Co. at Rijeka/Fiume under name LEGY for shipyard's own account and use. As she was the first newbuilding of new shipyard her builder's number could only be 1 and certainly not 452. In 1902 Howaldt & Co. ceased to exist and LEGY was sold to Impressa Triestina di Tomasso Cossovich & Ci. of Trieste. In 1922 she arrived at Split and under name DOKET had been used for harbour towing.

Howaldt built 4 tugs in 1894 for Romania. No.286-288 and 290

The question is where the ship actualy was built, but the quotation from the metal plate is correct. One of the assumptions is that Vridni was built in Croatia, at the former Howaldtswerke's section in Brgudi, near Rijeka (present-day Third May Shipyard), as stated in: http://www.fsb.unizg.hr/zbrodo/pokus/upload/Poznavanjebroda.pdf, page 176.

Yardnumber 452 was pontoon "A" built in 1906.
